Standing on the outside looking in

I’m standing outside in the cold damp grass watching the perfect family through their kitchen window.

The four of them sitting at the dinner table with a fine meal before them.  They lower their heads in family prayer and then begin to enjoy the feast.  They laugh at each others jokes and funny comments. Talk to each other about their day and what they would like to do after the meal. The dog and cat are even enjoying dinner next to each other without a hiss or bark.  It all looks picture perfect.

As they eat, talk, smile, and enjoy their company I can feel the cold earth beneath my feet begin to cave in. A black thorny vine starts to crawl slowly up my legs binding them together making small shallow cuts on its way.  Cold, damp, strong, and irresistible, it travels up my body consuming me to my neck.  It pulls me back into the damp darkness of which no light can find.

My Evening

My Evening

My evening

I walk in the door and remove my coat and shoes. Drag my heavy bag of work up the stairs. I walk into the bedroom and remove my many pieces of adornments. Brush the day’s hairspray out of my slowly growing hair. Pin it up in a loose bun with small pieces still falling out. Turn on the water and attempt to wash the day off my face in hopes of seeing the real me. Walk in to the bathroom and remove all of my man-made constrictions and step into the awaiting lavender bath. Breathing deeply I exhale my stresses of the day away.

Once I emerge from the scented waters I am a relaxed woman ready for the next challenge.

Quick note…. writing more

Just a quick note, recently I’ve been writing more and I hope to have some of it posted on here soon.  There’s one short writing that I can’t wait to post but I have to make sure the timing it right.  It seems with the season of summer ending and fall inching itself back in my creativity levels soar.  Just the thought that soon the trees will be ablaze in bright oranges, reds and yellows make me want to get out my sketch pad, canvas, paints and cameras and hit the roads in look for the perfect or imperfect images.  Fall, Autumn the season of cool weather but warm hugging sweaters and beautiful landscapes.

So like I said I hope to start posting again, there will be no pattern to the madness just creative flow.  And if anyone has some good pointers on how to use Photoshop to create quote pictures, please let me know, I’ve been fighting with it!

Enjoy the weekend!
