Serenity Prayer

There have been many things going on in my life that test me in every way.  I feel like I am at the point where I would break into a thousand shattered piece of porcelain.  But it seems that my body and mind won’t let that happen.  It knows that I can take it and keep going.

Now, I’m not a religious person, but this prayer calms me, centers me. Maybe if you are having the same feelings in life this might help you too.

God, give me grace to accept with serenity

the things that cannot be changed,

Courage to change the things

which should be changed,

and the Wisdom to distinguish

the one from the other.

Living one day at a time,

Enjoying one moment at a time,

Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,

Taking, as Jesus did,

This sinful world as it is,

Not as I would have it,

Trusting that You will make all things right,

If I surrender to Your will,

So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,

And supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Live each day to the fullest.  Smile at every star. And always love yourself.

I wish to just sit down and write but my brain won’t let me

Sometimes is it hard to sit down and write an entire blog posts.  My ideas come in waves and only stay for a short time.  Some are meant to result in short statements and other into page long debates.  It just depends on what I’m able to hold on to and write down before it runs away.

ADD can be annoying at times, especially when you want to write long and well composed entries but end up with short and confusing ones instead.  Probably the reason why I like to do fashion, music, and cooking blogs.  It is easier for my mind to concentrate for the shorter amount of time.  But it’s sad because I truly long for those moments I can write and stay focused.

Music video of the week – Smile

If your week is going like mine, it might be shocking that it is only Wednesday.  I keep thinking its Thursday.  But soon enough the weekend will be here.

The music video today is from Lily (Allen) Cooper “Smile”.  I just saw a news article the other day on Lily (Allen) Cooper about the orange and black striped lily flower that was named after her.  Very nice.

Outfit – Spring in the North

Spring in Wisconsin, it means you have to be ready for heat, cold, rain, floods, and snow storms.  And no, I’m not joking about the snow storm part, it’s happened before.  I think I carry more extra clothes around in Spring than any other season.  I can go to Lake Michigan in the morning wearing a jacket and pants, then drive out to my in-laws in Muskego and have to change into a skirt and a tank top.  It’s just all around crazy weather.  But it can be a little fun when you get to experience 4 season in one week 🙂

This outfit would be for a normal weekend day (I work all week and have no time to go anywhere. I live for the weekends)maybe start out at home on my balcony listening to the birds and the trains or at a coffee shop watching people be anti-social taping away on their computers.  Then downtown for some grocery shopping and a walk.  And who knows maybe I’ll end my evening at my mom’s, my dad’s or my in-law’s for a bonfire.

Two outfits, sometimes the second outfit is in the car and sometimes I go home in between to change.

Fun Spring Weekend

This weekend was busy and relaxing at the same time. My husband and I went out to dinner with friends on Friday. Saturday, I spend part of the day with my mom, a late Mother’s Day. We went for a run, picked up a greek chicken sandwich (from Green Kitchen) at the Milwaukee Market, and enjoyed some coffee at Stone Creek Coffee. The time was also spent with another ‘how to use Facebook and your iPhone’ session with my mom, I’m her on-call tech support. Sunday was rushing to get everything done day. I had cleaning to do before my sister-in-law visits this holiday weekend, it’s only half done. But my husband and I found time to visit the Milwaukee Market and Whole Foods. The weather was just wonderful, it was so hard to work on things inside. Hopefully the forecast for this up coming weekend changes to be less cold and more sunny. Either way, it will be a fun week ahead.
